Philosophy
Maria Montessori’s approach to education stemmed from a decades-long scientific observation and discovery of the child’s growth and development, the child’s way of learning and adapting to the world. Montessori noticed the natural ability of the human being to learn life skills with ease and joy at an early age, and advocated for educating this time-sensitive potential for the benefit of both the individual and a peaceful, respectful society. A well-structured and equipped environment invites the child to purposeful, hands-on activities, promotes concentration, decision making and allows for natural development of confidence based on individual achievement. Guidance is provided based on the child’s abilities, skills and interest while help is offered only when it is necessary, allowing children uninterrupted time and resources to learn on their own, in their own manner and at their own pace. In a Montessori environment, learning is not limited to academics, but widely understood as a foundation for life, encompassing a well-rounded development of the mind, the spirit and the body. The versatile, culture enriched curriculum nourishes the child’s intellect, the many hand-on activities, music enriched exercises and freedom of movement provide a constant practice of gross and fine motor skills, while the organization of the surroundings and the people in it support the development of will, independence, responsibility, respect for others and the environment, kindness and joy of purposeful occupation.
About the Educator
Malgorzata Masszi has worked in the field of Montessori education for over 10 years, as a volunteer, an assistant, a material maker, and a teacher, including four years as a lead. She had the privilege to be able to tour and observe Montessori environments of different age groups in Europe and Asia as well as work with children in Germany, Hong Kong and United States. She stepped into teaching with a background in Linguistics and a secondary music school diploma, an experience she has often applied in the Montessori classroom. She graduated from the AMI 3-6 Montessori training in Boston and holds a M.Ed. Diploma in Montessori from Loyola University Maryland. She is certified as a Director II by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). Following her recent maternity, Malgorzata created a Montessori environment in her home in order to best combine the role of a mother and a Montessori educator.
She hopes to provide a meaningful Montessori experience for the next generation of students while fostering an environment her daughter can grow into.
